When you think of art, where does your mind go?
Art isn’t just about a famous painting on a museum wall, or the powerful acting in a movie. It encompasses so much more, from the doodles in your notebook to the creative spark I’m using right now to write this description.
In this National Arts Day special, we re-introduce the concept of art, reminding ourselves that it’s not exclusive to those who pursue it professionally. We dive into the many ways art supports our well-being— mentally, physically, socially, culturally and even spiritually. We talk about embracing creativity without guilt or perfectionism, and for those who do pursue it professionally, how to balance art as both passion and work.
These reflections come to life as our host Susu B. sits down with Karma, an artist, writer, recent Visual Arts graduate from York University and a member of the on-campus arts collective Studio Hurricane, to explore what it truly means to live creatively. Join us on this journey and discover how even something as simple as pondering the late-night stars can be its own form of art!
